Sarah J. Sikkenga

Classroom Assistant

Welcoming Sarah Sikkenga to our Lake Superior Academy Family! Sarah is a graduate of North Muskegon High School and spent many years contributing to Muskegon's educational community. She served for nine years as the lead instructor in a preschool classroom and served as the lead facilitator/advocate of the Head Start Program for White Lake Community Education. Sarah will be awarded her B.S. in Early Childhood Education through Ferris State University in May, 2018. Sarah said, “I am overjoyed to be a part of the Lake Superior Academy team because of the unique learning environment!” Her ultimate dream is to develop a full time outdoor classroom similar to the classroom at The Forest School in Langnau am Albis, Switzerland. In this school, 4-7 year kids arrive every morning and spend the entire day (rain, snow, or shine) outdoors.
Sarah believes that Lake Superior Academy provides children the spark that ignites life-long learning. The hands-on instruction and outdoor work teaches students to be stewards of nature which can only serve to have a positive impact on their lives and communities. She is looking forward to developing new relationships with students and staff as well as to sharing her love of all things outdoors. Welcome Sarah - so glad to have you with us!!!
